Farming Simulator 22 – Making Money With Pigs
Farming Simulator 22 – Making Money With Pigs
Pigs are excellent money making opportunities in Farming Simulator 22. A source of natural fertilizer, they are a must for many farmers for this game.
Stables
Start with the accommodation for the animals. Here are a few distinct types you can choose:
- Pasture. This is suited mostly to breed pigs. Accommodates up to 30 animals.
- Barn. An option for producing manure and slurry. Can accommodate up to 108 animals.
- Large barn. Excellent for large farms with big demands – this barn can fit up to 270 pigs.
After your stables are purchased, you’ll need to deal with the supply. Pasture can be a rather expensive thing to maintain. You’ll need to feed the pigs, as well as provide water to make sure that they’re well. You get 3,000 liters of water capacity, and 9,500 liters of feed capacity.
The barn includes a silo that can store up to 34 cubic meters of feed. You can also sprinkle up to 15 cubic meters of manure, a crucial element to manure production. And here’s something different on Farming Simulator 22 – the manure storage tank is no longer unlimited, with a max capacity of 51,300 liters.
The biggest barn offers the most capacity – obviously. 85 cubic meters of feed in the silo, 45 cubic meters of straw in the barn, and 128,250 liters of manure in the tank improve heavily on the regular barn.
Purchasing animals
You can purchase pigs from your local cattle dealer. Bring your animal-carrying truck with you, otherwise, a dealer will charge a small fee for delivery. The main pig options are as follows:
- German noble pig (0 months), €200
- German noble pig (6 months, €416
- Bentheim pig (0 months), €200
- Bentheim pig (6 months) €416
- Berkshire pig (0 months), €200
- Berkshire pig (6 months), €416
Caring for pigs
In order for everything to work, the pigs also need to be properly cared for. A good mixing ratio for feed should deliver the best results. In general, pigs on Farming Simulator 22 eat just about anything – including wheat, barley, soybean, rape, sunflower, maize, soughum, potatoes, or sugar beets.
Here are some of the best mixes of the crops that work the best for pigs in-game:
- Corn or sorghum: 50% effectiveness
- Wheat or barley: 25% effectiveness
- Soybeans, rapeseed, or sunflower: 20% effectiveness
- Potatoes or sugar beets: 5% effectiveness
Alternatively, if you can’t produce a feed of your own, the local dealer has a more expensive, but fully instant solution – 1,000 liters of feed for 1,000 euros.
Using the pigs
You can use the pigs in different ways. After they reproduce, you can simply sell them to a cattle dealer, or use their slurry and manure for the fields. After that, the harvests should be increased.
Manure will only be produced if pigs in their barns will be supplied with straw. On Farming Simulator 22, a manure heap needs to be purchased and built near the barn in order for manure to be produced. The heap can store up to a whopping 4 million liters of manure.
But the production of this liquid gold can be expanded even further. A 500,000 liter tank, or a 2,6 million liter slurry tanks is also available, under the “Silo extensions” section on your building tab.
And if you don’t need the produced slurry for your own fields, you can also sell it at the biogas plant, and earn hard cold cash.
Reproduction of the pigs
As soon as the animal’s health is over 0%, its reproduction can happen. The increase will occur once every 6 months – so, always try to make sure that there’s enough room in your pasture for the animals to be. And of course, always try to take good care of them, so their health is good enough for reproduction in the first place. The older and bigger the animal is, the more money it can also make when sold – so, by selling the older animals and maintaining the younger ones, you can get a solid, stable cash influx.
