The GTK Boxer is a highly advanced 8×8 armored fighting vehicle used by the German Bundeswehr. It is designed around a modular architecture that allows rapid swapping of mission modules, giving the vehicle exceptional flexibility across different operational roles. Developed by ARTEC GmbH (a joint venture between Rheinmetall and KNDS Deutschland), the Boxer is considered one of the most survivable and adaptable wheeled armored platforms in service today.
Purpose and Role in the Bundeswehr
The Boxer serves as a core vehicle for Germany’s medium forces. Its modular design enables it to perform a wide range of missions, including troop transport, command and control, medical evacuation, engineering support, reconnaissance, and heavy weapon carriage. The vehicle has been deployed in international missions, demonstrating high reliability and strong protection against mines, IEDs, and ballistic threats.
