What is the best crop for making money in Farming Simulator 22

Farming Simulator 22 is perfect at capturing even the smallest details of various activities that happen in farming. Animal husbandry, forestry, agriculture, and fully developed production chains let you take full control of your land, and use it however you see fit. However, in order to really grow and make the best out of these opportunities, it also takes a lot of money. You need to speculate to accumulate, right?

Farming Simulator 22 is very similar to Farming Simulator 19 – however, it adds even more detail, additional gameplay options, and additional crops you can grow. It’s the last thing we’re going to focus on here. In this post, we’ll talk about what crops you should grow to get the best profits – while making everything simple, and fully realistic.

Which Farming Simulator 22 crops bring the most profit?

Farming Simulator 22 gives you 14 main types of crops: Barley, Wheat, Oats, Sorghum, Canola, Sugarcane, Berries, Cotton, Corn, Sugar Beets, Sunflowers, Potatoes, and Soya beans. The prices of all the crops fluctuate over time – so there is no set table as to which is the cheapest or the most expensive when selling.

However, Goldcrest Valley was consistently offering the best prices, especially for olives, soybean, and what. It has a train line, and you have to get yourself a train in order to reach it – so it’s an additional investment you have to make.

This investment can be worth it, if you know when to take the harvest, when to sell and what crops give you the best output, making this additional trip worth it. After looking into the data of the game, here are the crops that will give you the biggest stacks of money:

Wheat

Wheat is the “old reliable” money crop for most FS players – and there’s a reason for that. Wheat yields 3,029 liters of wheat, as well as 12.497 liters of straw. Selling them both can bring you some major profits. For best results, plant it between September and October, and then reap the harvest at a time between July and August.

Barley

Barley is also an excellent cash crop. One harvest can get you up to 3,268 liters, even more than wheat. In a size 44 field, the most you can get is 12,503 liters of straw, which is an excellent result. Barley is really easy to grow, as it requires minimal work and attention, and it’s harvested between June and July.

Oats

Oats yield a very solid harvest as well. It yields a total of 1,940 liters. While that might be lower than both wheat and barley, it’s still really solid. 12,500 liters of straw is the maximum you can get, making this an overall profitable option.

Canola

Canola yields 1,974 liters, which is a very solid harvest. However, it will take a while to grow properly. Plant canola in August or September, and reap the harvest almost a year later – in July or August.

Corn

Corn, harvested in Farming Simulator 22, gives you a very respectable corn yield of 3,132 liters – a solid showing, and a fully recommended cash crop overall.

Sunflower

While it’s a less common choice, sunflowers will most certainly help you bring it the profits. With a maximum yield of 1,770 liters, you can sell them at a good price as well.

Soybean

The maximum harvest of soybean in Farming Simulator 22 is a pretty average 1,532 liters. It’s a slight decrease from Farming Simulator 19, which had soybeans as one of the most profitable cash crops.

Potato

Root crops are pretty great on Farming Simulator 22. A harvest of potatoes gives you a solid yield of 13,642 liters. This is a big boost, compared to the previous version of the game – making potatoes a solid option to consider.

Sugar beet

Sugar beet is a yet another excellent root crop in FS22, with a yield of 19.412 liters. A great overall option to try.

Sorghum

Sorghum is one of the new crops that are made available in Farming Simulator 22. With a fairly average yield of 2.787 liters, it’s not going to be a fan favorite. At least not yet.

Olives

Olives can be seriously profitable. The yield is a respectable 2,987 liters, and you can make a tidy profit selling them.

Cotton

Cotton gives you a yield of 1,674 liters total. That looks to be pretty small – however, Farming Simulator has been known to buff and nerf this crop quite a lot. Your mileage may vary!

Grapes

Grapes are an unusual selection: and they’re much different, when compared to other crop options. It takes some time and effort, but with a maximum yield of 3,091 liters and good prices, it’s a good pick.

Sugarcane

Sugarcane can be a bit of a challenge for FS22. You can’t harvest it using a harvester, unless you’ve installed a mod that lets you do so. However – you should. With a maximum harvest of 16,942, this is a great cash crop.
